After checking out our new quarter in sunny Bielefeld on Google Earth and getting all excited about enormous house and garden, it turns out that actually we're getting the crap house four doors down. Bloody Google Earth getting me all exicted

Is the original one you thought it was empty? Over the years I have got really cheeky with DHE/Housing Allocations etc. Phone them up, ask what addresses are available. Go on a 'recce' - Army are entitled to 2 nights accommodation (in a hotel if no room available in mess) and food and pick the one you like!

sorry love - big tits told me about it. She couldn't understand why dh had the next door one when he was doing a similar job to yours, but he was in an independent coy and so got a bigger house, as he was not part of a regiment. It's still a really good street though - almost a cul de sac with a play park about 20 yds round the corner, the best chinese in the city about 100 yds away - which also do children's menus and love having you and the whole family around for early evening tea and a wonderful icecream parlour next to it. it's also really close to the woods and lots of wonderful playparks there. We were really happy there as a location (although we had a bigger house it was riddled with damp and the farmers behind the quarter you thought you were going to get are really horrid) Pop in to Herford to see us when you come down. Also, I am starting a job in Bielefeld in Sep, so we can get together loads - Herford is only 20 mins away. Hugs.

And at least I won't be living opposite the world's biggest idiot ! Have reconciled myself to the little house - as long as I get a nice kitchen this time...
Where are you working in BF - a coded message if you like!

Virtual Earth better than Google Earth imo.

BitLessTiredNow · 05/05/2008 20:03

I would love to on both counts - bacon sarnies on me and I will bring a sharp pin or three. did you know his wife runs the home start here? Too much irony for one post!

Scootergrrrl · 05/05/2008 20:04

I didn't know he had a wife... will tell you why at some point (nothing to do with me before your mind starts wandering!)
And where can I find Virtual Earth Wandering Trolley? I'd love to have a look at the new place without it a) taking me to the wrong address and b) it going all slanty!

I think I can guess..... (no wandering mind needed) wehn dh was away for 4 months, they never so much as tapped on the door, or even when I saw them in the street asked how things were - same drill for her next door neighbour when her Dh was in Iraq, and at parties all she used to say was how much she didn't want children. And now she is supposed to try and empathise with people who are finding things get a bit on top of them????? as I said, too much irony.

WanderingTrolley · 05/05/2008 20:17

Downloady

Scootergrrrl · 05/05/2008 20:18

Mind you, I wouldn't want children if I was married to him - imagine yeuch! (in fact, don't, It's making me feel a little unwell
