He's finding missing the kids really hard. Our kids 2xDS's age 5 & 2.

I would like to send him a gift from them to try and cheer him up.

one of those cards that you can record your own voice message on?

pic of boys or a pic that boys have drawn?

chrissnow · 26/03/2008 11:54

these are ace.
Load pictures yourself before posting. Oh and add extra batteries. I bought DH one for christmas he loved it (techy bloke gadget and soppy sweet at the same time - result!)

Thanks Hertsnessex & chrissnow, these are brilliant ideas. I've ordered both of them coz he'll love them and DS will love recording the card and choosing photos.

Just about to send him a letter with some pictures the kids have drawn. Feeling bad for him as he sounds so low. Only 4.5yrs to go!!!

I hope you meant 4.5 months!!

My boss is deployed too and we )(his children and I have been sending out a care package each week - but I have taken loads of photos of the girls and printed them using snapfish - as they can do boarders etc and other cool stuff - maybe a poster of the boys! and written a little letter from each child on the back

catzy · 27/03/2008 12:20

Thanks Dynamicnanny. I'll have a look at snapfish.

I meant 4.5yrs til he's out!!

Could you do a CD of music and poss bits from the kids (not sure what program you need to record voice then burn onto CD)

STEPSTONES · 27/03/2008 12:35

Hi My dh is just finishing a 6+ tour of afghanistan and just before he left I got my kids to the Bear factory and they choose the teddy and clothes had great fun making it and then recorded a message and had it sewn into the teddy with a heart, they loved it, I also secretly got my dh to do the same for our two dd and the day he left they all suprised each other with them, It has been one of the best things we have ever done, they all get to hear their dad/dd's voices when ever they need to!

Good luck with the tour x x

thats a lovely idea stepstones.

did your dh have to record his message in front of the whole shop though or are they a bit more discreet.

STEPSTONES · 28/03/2008 13:53

Tee Hee! I have to say he was really embarrassed! but they let us go through to a stairway behind a door to do it! It nearly had me in tears!! but I hear my dd's playing them at night, They really are great.

catzy · 28/03/2008 19:47

That's lovely Stepstones. Wish we'd thought of that.

Do you know if the voice recorder can come out of the bear? as I could send it to DH to record it.

In the shop they sell them separately so you can buy them and then send it over, they can explain how to record and save it. It is only a short recording but great all the same. x x
