So, the DE/MOD/MHS whatever lot are sending a company round to "assess" the MQ's in our street

Now obviosuly since they are spending some of the Defence Budget on this, I need to make sure it is done correctly.
So should I compose a lsit of things that are wrong? Should I also compose a list of things that my grade 2 property had in scotland that my "grade2" property down here doesn't ahve, for comparison, sot ehy can look at it and tell me exactly how this place gets a grade2? Or should I just leave it?

Lock them in the cellar until they sort it out?

shoshe · 22/01/2008 15:32

Hey Saltire they did this 3 times here last time about a year ago.

They are finally refurbishing our houses, but they started 12 weeks ago and are already 6 weeks behind!

We are suppose to be moving in April into out new refurbed house, I wont hold my breath.

BUT the show house will be open on Monday for 8 hours for us to look around.

saltire · 22/01/2008 15:52

It must be a very difficult job that none within the the 3 organisations is able to do. I'm not surprised though, the MHS lot think it's perfectly acceptable for a house to have the electrics being tripped on a daily basis and that we have changed 25 lightbulbs since we moved in June!

They are doing that here too. They forgot to notify us of the first appt so I refused to let them in as they said it would take 1.5 hrs. Then they were supposed to come on Monday and didn't turn up. Lady from local DE called to apologise in the afternoon and said it would be rescheduled which is no huge prob as I am a SAHM, but them I thought , don't we get a voucher if they fail to attend an appt and rang MHS who agreed I was entitled. Result! There is nothing wrong with my quarter apart from the carpets and curtains. I am lucky really.

LOL we were done last week. Apparently the houses should really be condemed (like they said when it was done in 2006) it would be cheaper to pull them down than repair / refurb them all but the local council said the rebuilt would have to have 10% social housing so they said they'll look at refurbing them in the future!!!

VanillaPumpkin · 22/01/2008 21:33

I have just read on the DE website that they are going to take photographs . Is that true?? That is not mentioned in the letter and I find that a bit much actually....

iesha · 23/01/2008 22:32

Had mine done a while ago, apparently it's to replce things like outdated kitchens etc. Yes they do take pics but not of your personal items, just things like cupboards etc.

VanillaPumpkin · 24/01/2008 14:10

. Thank you. I really don't see why they have to do every house either. They should just be properly assessed on our march in and out for a change.....Anyway moan over. I think I am in a mood today.

McDreamy · 24/01/2008 14:13

....outdated kitchens? oh plllllleeeaaaaassse send them over here! Dinner late last night coz the pissing gas bottle ran out and I didn't realise

VanillaPumpkin · 24/01/2008 16:30

I had wooden drawers in Cyprus no runners or anything and wooden edges to my worktops. I also had a cooker that took three times as long to cook anything as a normal one. I only ever used the hob. That kitchen was the original 1950's one! Mind you, at the rent we paid there it had a certain charm and meant we could afford to eat out anyway .

sunnylabsmum · 24/01/2008 17:05

Yep Cyprus kitchens do demand creative cooking and an ability to keep one eye on the gas!! Just like Camping Dh and I agree. Have given up doing roasts apart from Chicken as it takes for ever......
Lived through a kitchen and bathroom refit about 10 yrs ago....dust everywhere and overrun schedule, despite us hoping they would be up to speed as we deliberately waited until last to get ours done--argh well!!

Retro kitchen's rock though don't they??!!

VanillaPumpkin · 24/01/2008 17:09

If we wanted a roast dinner we either went to the restaurant on the strip on a Sunday or got a roast chicken and potatoes from the Bakers down the bottom end. Their chicken was nicer than mine anyway.

VanillaPumpkin · 24/01/2008 17:10

Lol at the camping. So true!

McDreamy · 24/01/2008 20:05

Jus got in from Il Gusto's Vanilla

sunnylabsmum · 25/01/2008 09:15

OOOO Il Gusto's yummy. I never want to eat for days after visiting there. Any other Cyprus eating out venue tips???? Have done Sylvana's and places at Curium beach

VanillaPumpkin · 25/01/2008 11:49

Oh you HAVE to go to Pissouri beach and eat at the restaurant on the roundabout that is attached to Pepis supermarket. I think it is called something beginning with L. I am talking two years ago though now, but it was amazing. We had a holiday in Pissouri and food so good we ate there every time we went out (bar one). Also Columbia Beach resort restaurant food v good (both restaurants) and the Bunch of Grapes in Pissouri village was lovely and the waiters ADORED children. Fabbo. And Tokio in Limassol on the strip for great Japanese tappanaki (sp) style food, great for a group. And the food for lunch at the Amathus Beach hotel on their pamper days is divine!!!! I am hungry now.

VanillaPumpkin · 25/01/2008 11:51

Oh crikey and Little Plates of course in Limassol. Fabulous! And there is another place that seems posh and does a set menu but is so reasonable with crepes suzette for pudding....that I cannot remember the name of now........in Limassol......

VanillaPumpkin · 25/01/2008 11:52

Lol. Man has just knocked on the door. He is coming back at 1 so I am just going to tidy a bit and make sure there are no inappropriate things lying about .

McDreamy · 25/01/2008 13:53

Pissouri - restaurant on th rundabout is called Liminaki
Restaurant with set menu is called Aliadas both very nice and little plates is my fav!

Where are you sunny? Epi isn't it?

VanillaPumpkin · 25/01/2008 13:57

Thanks McDreamy. Aliadas was driving me potty! We went there loads for one thing or another. I loved it. All those king prawns and salmon mmmmmm.

VanillaPumpkin · 25/01/2008 13:59

Oh and man was done and dusted in about half an hour. I do think he looked under or behind my bed though which is never a good idea....Oh well hopefully I will never have to see him again.

VanillaPumpkin · 25/01/2008 14:00

Little Plates is great and we only found it with about 6 mths to go . What a shame, so Sunny GO NOW!!

McDreamy · 25/01/2008 14:01

As you walk in that starter buffet is amazing! Haven't been there for ages. Did you ever try Terre Mare or something like that? On the strip in Limassol!

VanillaPumpkin · 25/01/2008 14:15

No, but it was recommended to us. We looked at the menu and thought it was really expensive until we realised the one price included everything but with that particular main course iyswim. I think we ran out of time on that one as if I recall correctly it was a bit posh to take the children....or perhaps we really just didn't have time.....
