Boyfriend going in the Army

Hello , I’m 17 and my boyfriend has been accepted in the army and will leave for basic training in 3 months.

Although obviously we are young , we have been together for 2 years and even though we be both understand that it will be difficult both seem to dream of being together forever , getting married , having children because we are really happy and work well together , and our relashionship has been tested already quite a bit and we’ve stayed strong for the most part. Was wondering whether the army really does put stress on a relationship or If there was a accidental pregnancy how would that effect his career ? ...

He is also placed in the infantry which causes more stress on his wellbeing and chances of being able to support any children and my life in the future. If anyone has any experience in this field please I’m willing to listen to any advice Xmas Blush

Unfortunately there will be stress on your relationship. The best advice I can give you is to try and be understanding.

There will be times where you make plans, and he will not be able to turn up, try not to blame him, but also try not to resent the job too much.

I can't see any particular reason why he wouldn't be able to support you, but it perhaps won't be as flexible as other careers. If you get married, you're entitled to rent a house from the Army, which costs less and will be on the "married patch". This has the advantage that you will be surrounded by others in a similar situation to you, so there's a support network.

That's a basic overview, does it help?

Do you have any specific questions?
