Entry as Junior Soldier or adult?

A couple of years off at the moment. DS is keen to join the army when he leaves school. Just back from cadet camp which he loved and wants to do again so I am taking that as a good sign.

His two options for application to join the army would be to apply o join as a junior soldier and go to AFC Harrogate or apply to join as an adult soldier.

Does anyone have opinions or experience of this please?

Junior leaders tend to fare better in the career path, discuss it with the local recruitment office, they'll have all the options.

My advice for what it's worth, consider the RAF also, given my time again, I would have chosen this over my choice of the Army.

Oh, and consider a commission, again, there are plenty of entry routes.

At the moment (and for a while now) DS is keen to join Royal Armoured Corps. I think that the junior soldier entry to the army has replaced the junior leaders though I could easily be wrong in this.
