I can't help on Bramcote, but we've also just been posted there - arriving in April/May so would also be glad of any advice of people already there.

Hi ladies, I left Bramcote about 6 years ago I think. I was in the Army and met my partner there, so lots of happy memories :-D
Anyway, the married quarters are reasonable, just your typical army housing. On camp, there is a small spar, a bar, a gym and a swimming pool that offers children time to swim away from soldiers. The town is prob around 4 miles from camp, and theres lots of shopping there. Theres some nice bars in town, and theres a lovely pub on the way into Nuneaton (I really cant remember what its called, but you cant miss it!). Coventry is a short ride away, which will obviously more in terms of shopping, museums and nightlife. The train services are reasonable, you will generally have to go into Birmingham New Street to pick up trains across the country. When I was based there, I used to spend a lot of time with my friend who was a 'pad' (army wife) and there was a lovely community feeling. Everyone was friends with everyone, which was lovely.
I think they were starting out with a little charity type shop, but not sure if the idea took off. There is a welfare building for all the families though, which was nice.
I cant think if anything else off the top of my head, but please feel free to ask me anything and I'll try to help :-)

Hiya thank u so much for ur replies :-) I joined a forum on fb for Bramcote and the girls have given lots of info :) there is now a thrift shop, and the ladies advertise events regularly on the Bramcote fb page.... like quiz, karaoke nights, zumba classes, days out etc.... so it really sounds like they have a brilliant community spirit there :-) x
