What do you do with all the kit they accumulate?

I've recently but a few bits on eBay but DH has found out and has gone mad! Didn't know I wasn't allowed to Blush.

Would the sea cadets take it I wonder? Can I do that?!

They sign for their kit and have to return it/exchange it, so I'm not surprised he's gone mad.

Ask your dh what he needs and what he doesn't and get him to return what he doesn't need. We have three sets of combat gear in the cellar, and dh hasn't worn that for years, but as we are abroad we don't have slops to return it to.

It was some of the stuff that slops won't take back! Desert combats and the like, just seemed like a waste having it all sat up in the attic, didn't realise selling it was illegal!

Do you have children? You could see if their school's drama dept wants it for the costume cupboard. I nicked some of DP's when he left the army for a show we were doing.

(um, I'm not sure if that's allowed either so check first!)

I just made my DS a lovely art smock out of DHs old style shirt. The rest we just box up and put in my mums loft so that we don't keep moving it, she has commented that there is a whole army store up there now Grin.

Randomly i was having this conversation with hubby today. His new co is making sure that when all the new gear comes into force across the board he will make sure every bloke de-kits as its not fair on them when it comes to moving. Say they get allocated 5 mfo boxes for their belongings and 3 of that is taken up by old combats etc they wont use.
I said what will the army do with all the old stuff when the new one is officially in force, can they flog it to surplus stores or something and he said any kit that has been in contact with skin has to be burnt!

My DH actually said last week it was about time he returned some of the obsolete kit back to the stores before it get eaten by mice or similar and we get charged for it. At the moment it's taking up a lot of space in the garage.
