Moving in November and it's very far from home. So far DH has never been more than 2 hours away from our families so we'll have to get used to not seeing them often.

Is lossie nice? Hoping that'll make up for it!

Hi, I spent 3 years at Lossie, lovely place, great for kids, the majority of the quarters are good. If you have any more specific questions (transport links, shopping, stuff like that) I'd be happy to help.

I lived up there for 12 years.I did not live in MQ but many friends did.
MQ's are in Lossie itself or Elgin, imo Elgin is a better place to live if you have a MQ as there is an estate of newish houses , mixed ranks so not as much like a patch IYSWIM .
Schools , primary - Bishopmill , secondary - Elgin High
Lossie , primary -Hythehill ( on the patch) or St Geradines, secondary -Lossiemouth high
Hythehill has had some social problems in the past, but is nearer to the base than Elgin MQ's . All a matter of choice.
Lossie ok for small shops , but you need Elgin for the supermarket etc.
GP's are on Clifton Road in Lossie ( Laich Medical Centre) good practice.
Fab hairdresser
Beach is quite good, but currents can be very dangerous, so Hopeman is much better with children, a lovely village if you're wanting to buy a house .
Golf in Lossie , Hopeman and Forres
Inverness 40 miles away for all the big shops , easy access by road or train
Hospital in Elgin Dr Grays, very good maternity unit.
Good furniture /gift shop in Elgin called Relax, I used to work there Wink
Ask if there's anything else you want to knowSmile

I loved it there. We lived int eh new houses opposite camp they were nice. Lossie itself was fab, we loved it very close to fab beach, although we had friends in Elgin who liked living there too

Thanks everyone for your replies, they're really useful. Certainly looks like a nice area, but so far from home.
