We've got a get together at ours in a few weeks time for 10-12 adults (hoping for outside and good weather!) No children although myself and one other are currently pregnant.
We are super foodies, and hosting is always a chance to put out good food, usually on a theme. I'm a good-very good cook.
This year due to pregnancy (26weeks by then) I'm keen to keep things calm and relaxed. So I'm going for an Italian theme, cold buffet style. My question is - enough or overkill? I have a tendency towards overkill and stressing myself out with too much to do and tons of left overs!
So far I have planned:
•Artichoke and pecorino bruschetta
•Tomato and onion bruschetta (both in bowls to be added as toppings at will)
•caprese salad (I'm planning to get some IoW heritage tomatoes to hopefully ensure quality)
•pasta genovese (so trofie pasta, Home made pesto, potatoes and green beans)
•a porchetta style heavily herded pork dish cooked the day before and served cold to have with bread rolls
•a small amount of lamb and mint chipolatas as one guest doesn't eat pork (served hot)
•Dessert will be affogatos with homemade ricciarelli which are chewy almond biscuits.
Question is - do I add in:
A) bresaola and rocket salad
B) cold seafood salad (mussels, clams, octopus, squid, celery, vinaigrette) - all eat seafood minus 1.
Friends bring drinks and better bakers than me will make a foccacia and the bread rolls for the pork.
So please help me rationalise 😅 it's probably out last adult.only get together so I'm keen to make it a good one!!
