mashed potatoes - oil instead of butter?

I often make a sort of crushed potato thing with olive oil and lemon juice. It's yum. The spuds are more sort of bashed with a fork than mashed and the bits that come off mix with the oil and l;emon (and lots of salt and pepper) to dress the lumps in yumminess. Sometimes chuck in garlic, herbs chilli etc. Have it with anything vaguely more med than brit iyswim. tis delish.

moon, that sounds absolutely delicious! will give that a try next time.
I now used sunflower oil and milk and it doesn*t taste too bad. lets see what the dc make of it.

The thing MoonFaceMama is talking about is also really good with new potatoes. It has the advantage that you don't have to peel them.

If you shove it in t'oven you get added crispy bits. Oh yes.
