But how? I have a food mixer blender device. The one time I tried it it was not a lovely slushy ice thing it was too liquidy. Anyone got any tips?

I used to make coffee milkshakes - I got a glass, put a shot of espresso in the bottom, filled up the glass with ice-cream then tipped it into the blender and added a splash of milk. It was lush! You could add ice-cubes as well.

Ice cream! Sounds lovely but was hoping to make sort of diet ones!

You really need lots of sugar to make it taste good, otherwise get the glass you want the drink in, fill with ice, then fill about 3/4 full with milk, tip into blender, add a shot of espresso, this should be the right consistency, but will be awfully bitter.
In coffee shops they often use a sweet powder that contains coffee, sugar and any other flavourings and add a scoop before blending.

I know your right there Earhart- tried it today with splenda and it needed a lot. I also used too much ice- think the coffee needs to be frozen somehow or it would be too weak. Hmm. Must keep thinking.

Thanks for tips btw. keep em coming!

I made one yesterday and I have to say it was pretty good...
First I made a shot of very strong instant coffee andd left it to cool slightly. I put a whole tray of ice cubes in my blender and blitzed them ice crusher mode (my kitchen aid has this but maybe use the chop mode if yours doesn't?) The ice looked like a clear slush puppy. I added about 50mls of milk, 2 table spoons of sweetner and the coolish coffee, blitzed it some more and poured it into a glass. Was lovely. It didn't melt and took a while to drink so was very satisfying (and less than 30 kcals I think).
I made another today, but added half a sachet of Options hot choc powder in with the coffee shot this time. Mocha Frappacino... even nicer!

Thanks owlets- I'll try that tomorrow!

Did manage to mkake a pretty good alcoholic thing yesterday- we have a fridge that makes and crushes its own ice- I started with a small glass of this, then blended it with half a pineapple plus some rum. Found I had to do it on 'pulse' or it wouldn't blend!

Was v v v lovely! Thanks for coffee version cant wait to try that!
