Anchovies. Where do you get the really nice ones from?

Went out for dinner last night and had some anchovies for starter.

They were not like the pathetic things you get in jars for pasta etc - these were great big silvery things, looked like sardines.

They were utterly delicious. Where can you buy them from? Can you get them from a supermarket?

waitrose and sainsburys do them - they are in a marinade rather than in plain oil like the tesco ones

Oh brilliant thanks for that!

I thought that I would have to stick with the crappy old salted ones in jars, or resort to going into a poncey deli in Cheltenham where the shop assistant looks at my asda shoes with disdain and acts like she is working in sothebies, not a grocers shop. Bitch.

So I can get these from tesco then - brilliant.

Boquerones - ooooOOOOOOOoooo, get you and your speling

Ortiz brand. Buy in bulk from spain but i think spanish deli/good deli's have them.
Have tried almost all the supermarket brands but they don't come close to these ones with their salty, beachy smell of the med. Yum

We have a good local deli that sells them - bloody expensive though!
