URGENT! Is there any way I can salvage this pasta salad?

have made this but have left my lovely delicious vine cherry toms whole, ditto olives

I didn't mush the garlic up, i just finely chopped it and the resulting (two enormous bowlfuls for a party TOMORROW) is bitter

Please help, before I cry.

I havent' added the herbs yet. Ws considering washing it all under cold tap and trying to wash as much bloody garlic away as possible, then redoing the dressing

MamaG · 19/06/2010 12:56

I cant work out why it's bitter, unless the garlic wasnt properly cooked. Was the white wine vinegar ok? (Taste it)
Wash it off.
Fry off or roast some garlic and then either chop or mush.

nursie999 · 19/06/2010 13:01

The comments suggest that perhaps the recipe uses too much wine vinegar.
I'd go sparingly, and add to taste.

wrinklyraisin · 19/06/2010 13:01

Hmmmm. Jamie is usually right (pompous git) so maybe you should chop everything as he suggested and see if that helps?

nursie999 · 19/06/2010 13:04

You will get more flavour through the salad from the tomatoes if chopped, plus it will stop the vinegar from being too vinerary as it combines with the tomato juices.

ItsAllaBitNoisy · 19/06/2010 13:07

YY chop the tomatoes, and add a teeny bit of sugar.

(btw - did you get the charger ok?)

moondog · 19/06/2010 13:09

It'll be fine,leave it be.
(Well as fine as pasta salad will ever be...)

ItsAllaBitNoisy · 19/06/2010 13:12

Pasta salad is the food of the Gods. But olives... they go to the other department.

nursie999 · 19/06/2010 13:31

And now I really wont to know what the end product tastes like, because it looks and sounds lovely, ingredient wise.

nursie999 · 19/06/2010 13:32

How many people coming?

PandaG · 19/06/2010 21:23

I've made that recipe, exactly as said, with chopped up toms, and it was very yummy. Maybe it does just need teh tomato juices mingling as another poster said?

MamaG · 20/06/2010 09:18

the pasta salad is YUMMY now tom juices have mixed and the herbs have been added (and of course it was washed )

Good luck!

No eating it all yourself before they get there...

nursie999 · 20/06/2010 09:57

Excellent.
Hope you have a lovely day.

Because it looked so nice, I decided to make that salad for todays lunch. I am also making a lasagne.
I have just chopped up the olives and inadvertently added them to my meat sauce.
Aagh.
Not that I mind, but I now have to go and get more olives for the salad!
