Has anyone made this?
It sounds nice, but while some of her recipes are great, others are way off, so I'd be interested in feedback.
TIA

bumping for you as I'd like to know too!

Maybe nobody's ever made it?

Might have to strike out into uncharted culinary territory and make it, then provide feedback.

I found this thread while I was looking for the recipe! I'm going to make it this weekend. I've made the lemon version lots of times and people always rave about it.

AuldAlliance · 25/06/2010 16:36

hobnob, please will you come and tell us what it's like?

I'll report back on Sunday.

Sending you a virtual choc hobnob, AuldAlliance.

hobnob here, reporting back. What a success! I made it as my sister's birthday cake, and it looked stunning and tasted wonderful. Things I'd remembered from the lemon version were that it's worth starting the cakes off without the meringue topping for ten minutes or so, otherwise the merinue cooks before the cakes are done. Also that you think you haven't got enough mixture, but you spread it in a thin layer in your tins and it comes out fine, with just the right proportions of cake to meringue. The flaked almonds make it look really special and professional.

A long-winded way of saying go for it!

Thanks, hobnob.

For the virtual hobnob, for the thumbs up and for the tips.

I'll try and make it next weekend.
