Giant buttercream iced cake - how to cover and store?

Just made DD's crocodile birthday cake and it's turned out massive. The buttercream is pretty wet - how long might it take to be dry enough to cover with cling film or similar?

And it's way too big to go in any cupboards or the fridge - where can I store it?

You can't store that at all, honest - just stick it all in a big padded envelope and send it to me

[no helpful advice]

My natural inertia has saved the day - it's still on the side in the kitchen and we've learned to work round it. And the DCs are ignoring it now. Party's tomorrow.

But I had a 5am brainwave for next time - a large cardboard box. [duh emoticon]
