Grilled halloumi slices or halloumi skewers for bbq - which is best?

Never tried halloumi before but want to try it on our next bbq as I've been told its delicious.

Which way to cook it though - on veg skewers or just grilled coated in little oil?

Also does anyone have any veg skewer recipes they would recomend?

When i tried to skewer it the haloumi fell off so now we always grill it.

We put tomato, red onion, courgettes, peppers and mushrooms on skewers.

Ooh I do love haloumi, I think we usually just grill it.

I have never thought to grill it have only fried it, but have never added extra oil, and i squeeze out the extra moisture, other wise it is to wet to crisp up.

Slice about 1cm thick, brush with oil and put on the barbie.Gives a much better flavour than on skewers. You will need a good fish-slice/spatula thingy to turn it though as it can break quite easily.
It is the best bit of a barbie in our house-enjoy!

I'll gril it then! How long each side do you grill it for?

Do you just serve it on a plate by itself and let people help themselves?
Do you put anything else on the plate such as salad etc?

Grill it. We tried to skewer it once and it fell off.

Grill it until golden brown and crispy looking. It would be really nice with mixed roasted vegetables.

just slice and grill, no extra oil needed.

You can serve on a nice "fattoush" salad which is the lebanese version of the greek salad.
Chopped romaine lettuce + cucumber + toms + sliced little red radished + red onion + pita bread crisps.
Toss in olive oil + lemon juice + a pinch cumin powder and sprinkle generously with dried thyme.

the best!

Grill it with sweet potato and then skewer it after

Slice it widthways into about 10 pieces and smear with a bit of chilli on each side (I use lazy chilli in the jar) and cook on both sides for about 3 mins or until soft and brown edged.Serve with a salad.
