Could you please give me the recipe for the shortbread bit of the millionaires shortbread.
I have made my caramel and have chocolate but my copy is packed as we are moving soon.
I can't find it by googling.
it has swirles of three colours of chocolate on the top if that helps.

I think thats possibly one of the few I don't have judging on the cover - I can check the others as they sometimes share recipes between books

Great thanks.
I may be off myself for a while doing bath time soon.

nope, sorry - maybe someone else will come along very soon that can help

FlyMeToDunoon · 19/05/2010 18:43

Darn. Ok thanks for looking anyways.
I would just like to have the right quantities for the tin I always use.

MrsMiamla · 19/05/2010 18:45

you could always email the seller of that one on ebay!

FlyMeToDunoon · 19/05/2010 20:28

That would be a bit cheeky wouldn't it.
If no one has it I will just find a shortbread recipe and use as much as I need to line my tin
Too tired tonight now anyway. Caramel will have to wait

if it were me selling it, i wouldn't mind. go on! you've got nothing to lose! if you don't, I will!

FabIsGoingToGetFit · 19/05/2010 20:44

Do you need it now?

I can look tomorrow for you.

FlyMeToDunoon · 20/05/2010 09:49

back again.
Anyone emailed that seller or been able to find the book?
I might try emailing later if not. Meanwhile caramel is in the fridge in it's tin. think i read somewhere it needs refrigerating after boiling though I can't really see why.
Hopefully it isn't chilled to a hard block!

FlyMeToDunoon · 20/05/2010 13:57

Thanks Fab. I will let you know if I ever get around to just using another recipe or hear from ebay seller.

Was it in one of the mini books that came with the magazine?

ooosabeauta · 20/05/2010 14:32

I've got the book here with me now - my mum gave it to me for my 13th birthday and I've loved it ever since

Will start typing up the recipe now... back in a bit...

ooosabeauta · 20/05/2010 14:38

Millionaires' Shortbread

75g (3oz) plain flour
25g (1oz) caster sugar
50g (2oz) butter

  1. To make the shortbread, mix the flour and sugar together in a bowl. Rub in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Knead together until the mixture forms a ball, then press into the base of an 18cm (7 inch) square tin.

  2. Bake in the oven at 180 degrees C (350F) Gas Mark 4, for about 20 minutes or until firm to the touch and very lightly browned. Cool in the tin.

Presuming you don't need the rest if you've already made the caramel and have the chocolate? Happy cooking!

ooosabeauta thank you very much that is fantastic. I will make it tomorrow now as
1-I'm too tired again [more packing] and
2- I have put my Oven Pride on the oven bottom and racks to clean them now.
Many thanks to all.

Didn't hear from seller.

No worries, hope it turned out well!

FlyMeToDunoon · 23/05/2010 08:10

well the shortbread got made, the caramel got poured on and it was put in the fridge to set......and it's still there. Hope it's edible. Will have a good try when I put chocolate on. No wonder I have not managed to pack.

PS seller of the book did reply eventually with the recipe. Which was nice of her.
