have just stewed about1.5kgofrhubarb mixedwith a load of strawberries for a couple of crumbles and have been left with quite a bit of the stewed fruit juice. i don't want to throw it away as i reckon it'll taste very nice but I don't know what i can actually do with it? any ideas? the only thing i thought of was a milkshake with vanilla ice cream or milk/ vanilla essence...

Use it in a smoothie? Or mix with gelatine to make a jelly? To be honest I never make jelly so this may not work!

There are some fruits that contain an enzyme that stops gelatine from working - I think pineapple is one of them. If rhubarb and strawberries are Ok then jelly would be delicious. Otherwise what about an ice-cream or sorbet?

how do you make sorbet?

Re - the gelatine not setting - it would be fine. Even if rhubarb or strawberries had any enzymes that acted on gelatine, the cooking would have denatured them :-)

I've checked a few recipes, and it sounds as if you'll need your own ice-cream maker.
