What's your "peasant fodder"

By peasant fodder I mean the stuff that takes very little in the way of preparation and is yummy. It should also lack a certain finesse.

I've just had mine and it's grated cheese and egg salad with mash potato served with generous amounts of salad cream. Mash potato and salad cream - (Homer Simpson like Mmmmmmmmmmmm!)

Here's one that started as a pg craving... tuna mayo paste sarnies with salt and vinegar crisps inside too!!!

PeachyClair · 01/08/2005 20:31

fish fingers sandwiches (esp after night out!), with salad cream and butter.

also like spam (sorry) and (dare I say it? on here?) kebabs. Esp. the veggie ones with Haloumi, but even the dodgy elephant leg kind. Sorry. Shall I leave the site now?

Dh loves pot noodles. The kids get so embarassed when he buys them in Tesco.

Surfermum · 01/08/2005 20:32

oh Twiglett Irish Stew, Mmmmmmmm

How do you make yours???

I love jacket potato, cheese and coleslaw - the bigger the better.

Oh and a doorstep of homemade bread made into cheese on toast or even better Welsh Rarebit.

Actually anything on toast - scrambled egg, poached egg... mmmmmmm.

And with a french twist Cassolet, yum yum.

Too hungry now - off to see what's for dinner

PeachyClair · 01/08/2005 20:35

Dad used to make me chicken (proper roast slices) sandwiches with pesto sauce when I was living at home, as only he and I got up so early in the mornings.... yum! they made their own bread, so great thick doorsteps of granary
