DP just drooped off the shopping and went off with DD ho has fallen asleep in the stroller so as to not wake fer up. I've got to prepare lunch.
Got prawns (raw, with heads etc), garlic, parsley, white wine...
Guy at the fish stall said to cook the prawns as they are and then to peel them as the shell gives more flavour to the sauce?
What do I do? Help!

If your DP decided , without consulting you, to buy some weird stuff you never cooked before, HE should be the one stuck in the kitchen and you enjoing the sunshine !

I'm sorry but I would begrudge my husband for throwing a cooking chalange at me on a nice day like today.

And if you just google ' prawns mussels spaghetti', plenty recipies to choose from, simple.

Prosecco · 18/04/2010 13:56

FRy the seafood in olive oil and garlic- but not for too long. Add a glug of wine and allow to bubble. Add teh chopped parsley and then mix in with the cooked spaghetti. If you keep a little bit of the cooking liquid form the spaghetti, it helps the sauce stick.

Enjoy- sounds yum.

Thanks. In the end DD woke up few minutes later, they came back and we made something else.
And, yes, it will be him cooking it tonight.

Ahem...DP was a bit miffed that I had implied that he made me slave in the kitchen over seafood pasta and wants me to acknowledge that the linguini he made tonight was a great success.

It was delicious!

I'm not at all into mussels and octopus but it would be great if you let us know whether he followed Prosecco's simple straightforward recipe or did he do anything special and would be willing to share.

I might not be ever brave enough to try it out but maybe others would... Also, I suppose it could taste good with only prawns ?

Anyway, well done your DP !

do you still need it?

Basically Prosecco's recipe, but he sauteed the seafood for about a minute in olive oil and lots of garlic, then added lots of white wine (like 4 glasses but we had tons of seafood), parsley, salt, pepper AND piment d'espelette, which I think is just chili flakes, then covered it and left it cooking on small fire for 6 minutes.

Was very good. It would definitely work with just prawns. Also, octopus needs to go in for only 1-2 minutes and you don't want to overcook the mussels as they go tough if you do. I think it also made a difference that he bought it all fresh from the market. I have a bag of mixed frozen seafood in the freezer, but it doesn't look very appetizing.
