They were lurking in the freezer, dh must have bought them.

So, how to serve them? To make matters worse there are only 6 of them for 4 of us, so I need to bulk them out somehow!

Beans? Lentils? How?

Please please help!

om nom nom venison

pan fry on lowest heat with sliced onions until all caramelised

chop into smallish pieces and use to make omlettes

meltedmarsbars · 15/04/2010 14:36

Is that all one recipe or two different suggestions?

Sweet potato (or normal) mash & onion gravy

booboobeedoo · 15/04/2010 14:40

Delia has a recipe I used once -

www.deliaonline.com/recipes/main-ingredient/poultry-and-game/venison/venison-sausages-braised-in-red -wine.html

I would make a stew with them. Brown them first with onions then add lots of vegetables, some lentils, gravy browning and red wine and herbs.

Yum.

Also very much liking the mash & onion gravy too

... and the omlettes..

going to have to get some venison sausages now!

Iklboo, there are not enough sausages to go round, I need to pad them out somehow! With what?

Sausage casserole with lots of onions, carrots, and lentils. Serve with mash. Luvverly

BoysAreLikeDogs · 15/04/2010 14:41

oh sorry, yes one recipe

BoysAreLikeDogs · 15/04/2010 14:43

I would use the pan used to cook the sausages to make the omlettes, to get all that lovely venison-y flavour

meltedmarsbars · 15/04/2010 15:01

Okay, I have scrabbled around and come up with 2 rashers of bacon, a tin of borlotti beans, lentils (choice of whole green and red split), leeks, onions, herbs.

Here goes.....

oh yummy

you could do mustard mash with that

meltedmarsbars · 15/04/2010 20:27

Well, they were luverly - did a casserole with the bacon, leeks, onion, a tin of toms, a splosh of chianti and the grilled sausages. Served with "flat chips" (fried leftover spuds) and spring greens out the garden.

Mmmm, would do it again!

Thank you all.
