I'm cooking later for friends (assuming I find the energy by then), so can I just do cheese on toast and cucumber for the kids - or would you call social services on me?

cheese = protein and fat
toast = carbohydrate
cucumber = veg

sounds like a balanced meal to me

BareFootAngel · 25/07/2005 17:21

ooh add strawberry nesquick ,,dairy and more fruit

KristinaM · 25/07/2005 17:42

dairy yes. though i think you may be kidding yourself about the fruit

flamesparrow · 25/07/2005 17:47

If something's pink and it says strawberry on the pack, then it definately counts as fruit

WideWebWitch · 25/07/2005 17:52

What's wrong with cheese on toast and cucumber? Add some fruit/yoghurt and it's a good meal!

Sounds fine to me. I had cheese on toast for my supper yesterday. With a nice glass of wine. Not that I'd particularly recommend that for your kids - save it for yourself.

SenoraPostrophe · 25/07/2005 18:05

I wouldn't call social services.

unless you're using kraft cheese slices, that is

emmatmg · 25/07/2005 18:12

well, mine had beans on toast(and half my bacon and mushroom omellete.....which I was really enjoying I might add!) so IMO it's absolutley fine

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 25/07/2005 18:13

glad im not the only one who feeds my child cheese on toast! Jess loves it at lunch time!

Angeliz · 25/07/2005 18:14

my dd had a tin of pasta shapes It's what she wanted! and a bowl of custard!

(DP and i are getting a curry later!!!)

Caligula · 25/07/2005 18:17

Are you going to bother to toast the bread?? How very energetic of you!

Nightynight · 25/07/2005 18:25

thats a gourmet meal in our house.

purpleturtle · 25/07/2005 18:30

It's ok, Caligula, I delegated the making of the cheese on toast to dh. Actually, we were inspired by the snacks we've been asked to review, and found a bit of ham to go on it too! After all that great, stupendous effort, ds had gone to sleep on the living room floor and could not be woken to eat it!

my ds eats bread without butter on a regular basis- you going to call the SS on me? ....
