If I freeze the muffins I've just made, can I serve them to guests for brunch on Sun?

I'd normally do fresh muffins for visitors - if I do use these ones, what's the best way to defrost them so that they don't taste pre-frozen?

Never made a dry muffin in my life SS. The very thought!

Oh and thanks Indaba. Contrary to SS's concerns, I often find defrosted muffins a touch soggy. Was wondering whether to warm them gently in the oven to make them taste fresher?

I find that any bread or cake frozen then defrosted naturally i,e not in the toaster or oven, tends to go soggy but less so if you wrap them in kitchen roll when you take them out of the freezer.

I haven't tried the oven thing with muffins but I reckon if you wrap them in a bit of foil it could work - any chocolate in there may melt....

Disclaimer: the above is merely my outloud thinking so if they are crap once out of the oven/ kitchen roll I can accept no responsibility

I'd agree with your soggy comment. I've frozen a few different types over the past few years and they have all been a tad soggy.

TBH, I'd scoff the ones you've made now and make a fresh batch for the weekend. Then your guests get the lovely baking smell too.

Agree with taffetacat also most muffin mix will hold well in the fridge overnight some even hold for a few days

Ok I won't risk it! My muffins are superquick to make anyway so I'll throw them together on Sun morning - and maybe experiment with the defrosting-in-the-oven thing on another occasion!

Let the muffins cool completely before you freeze them. Get them out first thing if you want them for lunch, any earlier take them out the night before.
