Anyone got a great homemade burger recipe?

I want to make a classic burger for dh and ds tomorrow, not sure if it's better to go minimalist (just beef) or with extra bits and pieces/flavourings. Anyone got an all time favourite recipe?

some finely chopped onions and a beaten egg to bind it , and salt, pepper , if you use good minced beef/steak, you need very little else

and don't over cook them!

can also add chilli flakes too

Thank you!

I use good steak mince, onions (chopped in food processor for kids as the "don't like" them), egg, herbs (mixed herbs, or parsely and thyme is nice) and egg as Lulu says.

If they like cheeseburgers, a bit of grated parmesan in the burger is good (ds fave!)

If they like chilli/hot things then chilli flakes or a little fresh chilli chopped with the onions (dd2 fave)

Dd1 is a purist - the plain recipe for her!

DH likes his really herby!

My wife adds a bit of grated courgette just to keep them moist.

Mine is - minced beef, chopped (cooked) onion, egg, breadcrumbs and a squirt each of HP sauce and tomato ketchup.

mine is beef, an egg, a spoonful of ketchup and a sprinkling of that low salt marigold stock powder stuff (to give taste of onion without texture of onion!).

Mine is beef, egg, breadcrumbs and a few herbs. DP sometimes likes it if there is some cheese stuffed in the middle (these are BBQ faves) or if I make lamb burgers with lots of rosemary and thyme.

DP insists that I put breadcrumbs in though, if I don't he says that they are too meaty

Mine is beef, egg, basil, handful of parmesan cheese, chopped red onion and seasoning all family loves them

I like to add grated apple to mine - makes them nice and moist.

Blitzed onion, minced beef or lamb, bit of salt and pepper. That's it, really. no egg, no breadcrumbs.

I often add a pinch of smoked paprika and often blitz parsley and/or coriander stalks with the onion. Obv I don't buy/grow parsley or coriander for the stalks, but it's a good way to use them up. They taste fine, but are a teensy bit too rough and ready for using elsewhere, iykwim. Sometimes I throw a bit of dried herbage in instead.

They are great with a bit of horseradish thrown in.

Fresh coriander is really nice in burgers. Also sage.
