Bicarb...baking powder...cream of tartar

just how interchangeable are they in recipes? I never seem to have the right one when I go to bake.

This is a good explanation

I generally use baking powder, and only use bicarb for Soda Bread. Cream of tartar I use for scones, to give them extra lift.

Exactly - scones are on the menu today. The recipe wants cream to tartar and bicarb.

I often use bicarb to clean crusty crystal vases and tea-stained cups!
