Was crowing on here last week about my amazing hummingbird bakery cakes but have made them again this week and the cakes are so stuck to the paper you can only pick the top of each cake off to eat. Am wondering if the oven wasn't at the right temp - could that have caused the problem?

could be that..too high a temp that its cooked the cakes too much round the outside..and caused the sticking, and lets face its easily done especially if trying to watch children at the same time.

Did you use oil instead of butter?

debka · 01/02/2010 21:45

or margarine instead of butter?

I find they stick to the cases if I can't help myself someone gets at them them before they've cooled down. If you leave them a bit, they usually peel out without much trouble.

I must admit, I have never ever had trouble with them sticking.

butter not oil or marg. Wondered if it wasn't high enough so they didn't cook quickly enough and hence sticking.

it'll be the glue you put in by mistake...

This happened to me with the hummingbird fairy cakes recipe. I didn't soften the butter enough first so assumed it was this.
