my spinach and potato soup doesn't taste quite right?

It's not from a recipe, just onion, spinach, some new potatoes that I had left over, small piece of ginger (too small obviously as I cant taste it at all. ). It tastes okay but really feels like it's missing something. Any suggestions what i could add?
curry powder?
horseradish?
coconut?
fennel?
more ginger?

It's quite thick at the moment but i'm holding off putting more stock in until I see what you guys might suggest!!

TIA

I think I'd try nutmeg - goes well with spinach. I'd have thought it should have some milk or cream in there too.

I thought that too Grimma about milk/cream but it's very thick at the moment. Perhaps more stock and some milk/cream?? Can i just sprinkle the nutmeg on and mix it in?

I'm guessing I'd just use milk to thin it at this point. nutmeg can certainly just be sprinkled in.

(hoping now I'm not ruining your soup !

Salt!

GrimmaTheNome · 01/02/2010 15:03

well yes, and black pepper

i'd eat it as it is but i dont think the peeps are going to be so keen. I'll add the milk and nutmeg and I've got some sour cream in the fridge so perhaps when i serve it I'll put a swirl or that on top (cool it down and make it look nice too). Got nothing to lose. I'd make the soup out of leftovers and out of date veg anyway!
