Smells ok but not sure.

if it doesn't smell and you are cooking it to death then possibly. the smell is the thing, if it was off you'd know it, date or no date. I'd cook it for me and DH but not for DS [wimp]

no i would not. and i'll eat almost anything.

unless you really mean 'best before' and not 'consume by' but then it would have to be preserved (smoked?)

winnybella · 29/01/2010 22:22

No, I wouldn't. If it was smoked then yes. Fresh- no.

onepieceoflollipop · 29/01/2010 22:23

No, I wouldn't risk it with either meat or fish. Apparently with some foods even if they smell ok then they still might be deteriorating/going bad.

Also, senses of smell can vary, someone with a "sensitive nose" might sniff your fish and say that it smells a bit off.

fishie · 29/01/2010 22:24

it is a hell of a long time out of the fish farm you know.

havoc · 29/01/2010 22:25

Yes, if its smells ok. But then I think bestbefore dates are a con.

LadyGaga · 29/01/2010 22:33

fuck that.. think about when that fish was caught.... you are not eating fresh salmon you are eating over 7 days old fish. Trust me ...no good!

GothDetective · 29/01/2010 22:37

Actua;lly it says "use by" not best before date so I probably shouldn't eat it. Bollocks thats £5 worth of fish to feed to the cat.

Even I wouldn't eat fish 4 days past a 'used by' date and I eat anything!

Lucky cat!
