any one else making marmalade today

hoping it goes ok, am so tired it could go terribly wrong but a busy week means that if I want marmalade it has to be today.

Am trying river cottages whole orange method - was a revelation that I got from here that you can do it this way.

oranges are simmering at the moment, been going for about 15 minutes

I got mine from the wholesale market in Birmingham, but I also saw them in Waitrose. £2.25/kg

Nigella has a really good, basic recipe in "How to Eat" - it's the old "chuck them in a pan of water and simmer for 2 hours" method.
I have been making it every January for about the last four years, it never fails.
I did buy a thermometer this year, but normally just do the cold saucer thing with regards to the setting.
I pick the pips out by hand after I've simmered the oranges and cut them in half, and then I chop the lot in a Multichef rather than trying to hand shred. Simples!
I got mine in Waitrose but they do tend to sell out fast. Apparently they freeze well so I have frozen some to make a Seville orange curd when I have time.

OYBBK, you could re-boil to thicken it up. You shouldn't need to wash jars out. Half an hour and it is done. It may keep slightly better if you have a higher sugar content (i.e. boiled down a bit more).
