My spiced carrot soup just tastes like pureed carrot! How can I rescue it so that it doesn't feel like we're eating baby food?

Hay-lp! I have 8 adults coming to lunch tomorrow. The seasonings were 1 tsp curry powder, 1 tsp ginger and pared lemon - plus salt and pepper. But it just tastes of carrots...would you just keep adding more curry powder/ginger/lemon juic e until it tastes of something or do I need to try something else?

I might put some fresh coriander in when serving and maybe add a little bit of dried now.

Cumin and carrot work very well together too.

I would add some chilli (some chilli flakes), a sprinkle of paprika and chop a load of coriander up and add that as well. More salt and pepper as well.

Thank you so much. Am scouring store cupboard (supposed to be working from home). We have chilli flakes, paprika, cumin, fresh chives (best added tomorrow I imagine?).

I imagine putting everything in would be a bit of a disaster?

Chives won't work at all.

Loads of fresh coriander definitely will.

I don't think i would add the chives tbh. Try and get some fresh coraineder I think that will go well with the spices.

yes would add the chilli and paprika but I would hesitate to add more cumin at this stage, I always add cumin at the start of a cooking process as think can taste a bit musty if added towards the end.
