Shepherd's pie not quite defrosted.... would you??

Forgot to get my home-made shepherd's pie out the freezer last night; took it out at around 11am but it's still crunchy in the middle. I'm pretty sure you can cook raw mince from frozen... so what would you do - heat up the shepherd's pie on medium heat for long time (& for how long?) or leave it until another night?
Same goes for cheese pie for my DH - but I'm less worried about that .

(& I'm about to head out, so not ignoring any answers - will read them with great appreciation when I'm back in about 45 mins or so )

NumptyMum · 04/01/2010 16:55

if it's in a tupperware stick the whole pot in the sink and run warm-ish water over it
if it's not then cut it into portion sizes and bung it somewhere warm in the kitchen and it'll defrost quickly

Well you can just cook it (you can cook things from frozen!!!) . Cook it until it is piping hot throughout, so when steam comes out when you poke a spoon in the middle.

Nothiong wrong with cooking food from frozen

Seriously, just cook it as is, nothing bad's gonna happen

If it's already cooked then there's no problem. Just make sure that it's properly hot all the way through - it will take a bit longer to heat up than if it was thawed.

Thanks for all the messages .
I actually left it a bit late to come back from friends, so am going to leave it until tomorrow now (or DS will be starving!!) - but will know for next time.

reverted to plan A - DH wanted his cheese pie so we waited a while for food and it all seems to have cooked up OK - thanks for advice!!
