Sorry to hear about your purse. What a pain. Try this website cos you put in what you have and it is supposed to give you recipes. I tend to look at them and adapt, mainly as I appear to be pathologically unable to follow any recipes or rules to the letter! Makes me a rubbish baker!

MmeLindt · 04/01/2010 10:51

Macarroni tuna/sweetcorn bake would be a filling meal. With salad.

Potato and veg bake using the blue cheese sauce (if the DC will eat this) otherwise with bechamel sauce with emmental.

Quiche (no reason you cannot put salami in there). Make your own quiche pastry, eggs, some pepper.

How long will it take before you get some money?

Mistletoesnowman · 04/01/2010 11:11

You could make a veggie curry or chilli. Omlettes are always a good one. You could make a pasta sauce with the blue cheese sauce and salami.

Thanks, I'm waiting for the bank to get back to me. So how long's a piece of string. Because it happened on new years eve, it has put a spanner in the works,.

Hahah I just looked on cooking by numbers and it suggested an apple, fried egg and then a load where I am missing 50 percent of the essential ingredients, e.g beef in orange, you are missing beef and orange.

It might not have helped me but it made me laugh. Thanks

-Cheesy macaroni bake
-Spaghetti in tomatoey sauce (tomatoes, any veg you fancy chucking in, add some cream cheese to the sauce to make it more interesting)
-Mini quiches
-Mexican vegetable bake - cook up various veg, beans etc in burrito mix, top with sliced boiled potatoes and grated cheese, then bake
-You could make up the chicken noodle soup and cook couscous in it as you would use stock, add veg and other stuff to make it more interesting
-Baked potatoes with tuna and cheese
-Pizza and salad
-Pizza & croquettes....

Hopefully by that point you'll have a replacement card. Sorry to hear about that though, I know from experience how annoying it is.

Thanks, my problem is that I am overseas, so lord knows how long it will take to get to me.

I think I might just eat the syrup, straight from the tin

Egg & chips
Spanish Omelette
Veg soup
Welsh rarebit type thing

How are you for bread? Or could you borrow £10 (or local equivalent) from a neighbour/friend/colleague until the card comes through?

scones, cheese scones, biscuits - can freeze some for other days
quiche
mushrooms on toast
tuna with baked potato and veg
vegetable stew with the kidney beans
pasta bolognese with or without tuna or cheese in the sauce
vegetable muffins
curry
apple tartlets or vegetable tartlets or cheesy tartlets

there are so many things you can make with that long list of ingredients!
The BBC food website also has a facility for typing in a number of ingredients you have and coming up with recipes that include those ingredients - or just adapt recipes from any book with what you have in

Amapoleon · 04/01/2010 14:24

Thanks, will have a look at the bbc site too.

Sweetcorn, tinned toms and tin tuna with spaghetti, sprinkle with breadcrumbs and tiny bit of grated cheese and bake.

Cook kidney beans, tomatoes, red pepper, tom puree and 1/2 an onion with burrito mix, make tortillas with plain flour, oil and water = veggie burritos/soft tacos.

1/2 onion, salami, passatta, garlic, pinch sugar, mixed herbs, spaghetti, little bit of cheese to sprinkle on top = pizza pasta

sliced potatoes, sliced onion, white sauce topped with 4 cheese slices = potato bake

chestnuts, mushroom, carrots, veg gravy (use stock cubes, flour and water) top with doughballs or pastry = pie.

carrot pie - sliced carrots cooked, tossed in cheese sauce made with the philly, topped with mash and browned.

Cook the couscous in a packet of chicken noodle soup, serve with 2 sliced boiled eggs and salad.

Use the iceberg, garlic, a couple of potatoes, nutmeg and good seasoning to make lettuce soup, blend it till it is almost smooth.

Make scones, plain muffins and plain biscuits to eat with soup etc. or for breakfasts. use the juice from the orange and a grated apple with one egg to make fruit muffins. Eat some of the plain biscuits with the primula and pickles for a light lunch or to pad out some soup. Chop a couple of the cheese slices up to make cheese scones.

Use the tom puree, coconut milk, stock, apple and spices to make spicy tomato soup.

pasta cooked and cooled, tossed in oil, vinegar, salt, peppr and sugar. Stir though some tuna and a chopped cheese slice = pasta salad.

Make mini apple and brown sugar tarts for a treat. Melt the syrup with a little water/oj/brandy and pour over the sponge fingers for a quick sweet thing (or just dip them in your coffee)

That should give you something to go on with. Hope you get things sorted soon.
