vegetarian topping for potato cakes & creme fraiche

I'm doing the starter for our Christmas Day meal - I'm planning to do potato cakes, creme fraiche and smoked salmon (using the recipe from Nigella Express which is yum!) and need an alternative topping for vegetarians so I don't have to do a totally separate starter for them. The only thing I can think of so far is garlic mushrooms but not sure if this will really work. Has anyone got any suggestions please?

red or green pesto would work well but would be better with mozzarella rather than creme fraiche IMO.

Could do "duxelle" or splash out on some lovely truffle paste?

oh that's a good idea hadn't thought of that, thanks very much.

Had also thought of goats cheese and basil or sauteed spinach and shallots. Think I'm going to go for something that doesn't involve any extra cooking.

What about mango chutney and yoghurt (or creme fraiche) if you really don't want to do any extra cooking? You just need to make sure it's a nice chutney.

Um, I'm getting hungry now. Time to leave the food threads for today!
