Does anyone know the dessert made from whipped cream with choc chip cookies or gingernuts through it?

I had it once years ago at a party and it was scrummy.

I think the biscuits may have been soaked in alcohol. But if anyone knows the recipe I 'd be very happy.

I know it was easy to do and am planning to incorporate it into CHristmas at some stage

my auntie made it with a pack of gingernuts soaked in sweet sherry then covered in cream.

oooh yum

I do as follows....

ginger nut biscuits, dunk into sherry, stand upright into a line, add a branch if you want to make it look like a yule log, cover in whipped cream, crumble a flake over the top

and try not to eat the lot!

Ooh I know one with ginger nuts, tangerines and brandy. Not sure about the exact recipe - don't know if there was one actually Was a mum special.

As far as I remember you soak the gingernuts in a mixture of the juice from the tinned tangerines and brandy. Sandwich the softened biscuits with whipped cream in a sort of ring or caterpillar, and then pipe more cream around the outside and decorate with the tangerine segments. Needs to be chilled for a while.

All you need is a pot of whipping cream, a packet of ginger nuts and a glass of sherry. You need to prepare everything the night before. Whip the cream until it's nice and thick. Put the sherry in a shallow bowl. Open the packet of ginger nuts and dip each one (both sides) in the sherry. As you finish each one you need to reassemble them into the cylindrical shape they were in in the packet on a serving dish. This is the only tricky bit. Once your roll of biscuits is complete cover the whole thing with the cream and leave in the fridge overnight.

just found this on t'internet

I'm having pudding flashbacks too - I need to build this into Christmas somehow .

bumpybecky · 15/12/2009 13:58

I need this now! the more I think baout it the more I want it

I've got the sherry and the cream, but we've only got pink wafer biscuits in the house. I don't think they'll work. It would be silly to start baking biscuits now to make this later wouldn't it?!

Oh wow - thank you all
Def pudding flashback here too. was it an early 1990's dish?

i think it was deffo a 70's thing.

love the name Dougal!

I've always done it by dipping a gingernut in sherry and then put a good blob of whipped cream on it then put another sherry dipped gingernut to make it log shaped, then smother in whipped cream & grated choclate. We call it Dougal as well.
