What is the easiest way to ice my Christmas cake?

This is my first ever cake, I made it a few months ago and have been feeding it regulary.

Now I need to work out the easiest way to ice it as I have never iced a cake before

Either pile it high with glazed fruits and nuts, or my fave which is marzipan (roughly- only way I can do it),make up pakcet icing a bit thick (use all the sugar and the water stated on box), coat, flick with a fork until it makes peaks that are setting, shove a ribbon around, dust with white glitter flakes if you can get to a bakers shop (fab expensive easy snow efefct).

Place 6 cinnamon sticks around in an octagon, take another two and tie with ribbon to match outside,place in middle.

takes 30 minutes,is easy and looks really complex and posh.
