Boo, salad in December, it just not right IMO. Although I am a huge salad fan, just feeling the cold.
Is it all bread that sends you rocketing? Have you tried wheaten or black bread? Both best toasted IMO. Of you can get north Stafforshire oat cakes they're pretty good too, Tesco used to sell them.
Otherwise I'd go with soup but avoid carrot, red pepper, tomato etc as they are good for sugar hikes.
OK I back track on the salads, warm lentil salads are good in winter.
If things like eggs are sending your sugars high I'd go back to your Midwife and get a dieticion referal.
Hope you don't have long to go. I did the last 4 months of Preg with GD, which was over summer months and I lived on salad, oat based stuff and celery, or that's what it felt like. Remember, it won't last and one day soon you'll get a lovely little cutey and a large box of Thorntons Continentals to celebrate ( you could put them in a sandwich if it adds to the pleasure) - put the order it now!
