frozen smoked salmon . To eat or not ?

I ordered loads of smoked salmon from an on line sunpermarket intending to freeze it for christmas. When it arrived the packaging indicated it was previously frozen, but I bunged it in the freezer anyway ( only place I had space). The supermarket have confirmed that their site was incorrect and have refunded the money. The salmon is still in date, has always been kept at under 5 degrees (ie under the food 'danger' zone). I've got a food hygiene certificate and am convinced it is fine to eat within its use by date, but does anyone out there with better knowledge than myself know if it is safe to eat? (not really looking for opinion, rather more a scientific answer from anyone in the know IYSWIM) Thanks !

hmm

Did the packet say 'suitable for home freezing' or not?
Either way I wouldn't serve it raw anyway - apart from anything else the texture will have suffered severely.
Use it cooked in pasta dishes or fish pie.

I've thawed some frozen smoked salmon for my sandwiches this week. I ate it on Tuesday and I'm still here, fit and well and MN-ing.

Thanks, I think we will be ok. I just hope there aren' thousands of other customers out there who discover it on Christmas day!
