Healthy savoury afternoon snack

SerenityNowAKABleh · 25/11/2009 15:56

In the afternoon at work, I generally get hungry and start craving a savoury snack, but am wanting to stay FAR AWAY from the vending machine crisps. What would people recommend? humus and something?

If you whizz up frozen berries (or any friut, yogurt, banana, honey and milk in the morning and put it in a flask I find that smoothies are really filling.

Oatcakes? Ricecakes? I like mine with a bit of marmite on. Cheese? Celery and cream cheese?

Breadsticks?

Ryvita?

Brown Pitta bread?

Carrot and cucumber sticks?

All go well with Humous.

The mumsnet cheesy flapjacks are good.

Berries and fruit are excellent and healthy. Humous is another great suggestion for an afternoon snack-let. If I want a crispy snack, Tastees are healthy, savoury and a touch delicious.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Celery / apple and peanut butter.

Oatcakes and one of those baby pots of Philly, with some carrot sticks. The Nairns fine oatcakes are scrummy, or Waitrose have lots of lovely, posh, flavoured ones, including very nice smoked ones.

I like celery sticks and cream cheese too.

Or pitta and tsatkiki (homemade though because the bought stuff is vile).
