Great salads - any interesting suggestions to have with cold meats at Christmas please?

I would like to have cold meats etc for Boxing Day.

I want to make a nice big salad bowl to go with it. Something interesting. Plain old tomatoes and lettuce are a bit boring for Christmas. I can do potato salad and coleslaw ok.

But I'd also want a leafy one which is a bit different.. any yummy suggestions?

add dried cranberries, hazelnuts and some shaved bits of strong mature cheddar or old dutch mimolette cheese and do a honey-mustard dressing?

A friend of the family always makes a delicious salad using small chopped raw broccoli florets, grated cheese, fine sliced rings of red onion and a creamy dressing. I must ask her for the exact recipe because it's delicious and always goes down well with the whole family - including carnevorous fellas and picky kids!
