Recipe says gas 1 for 4.5 hours. It's NOT FUCKING COOKED (skewer doesn't come out clean) and it's been in for nearly 7 hours now!

Here is how to rescue situation.
Take out, pour over 1/3 tablespoon of brandy.
Set alight.

Pour rest of brandy into bucket.
Drink.

Go M&S tomorrow. Buy new cake.
Problem solved.

I would keep going with it.....its pretty hard to screw up a xmas cake and TBH gas mark 1 is a very low setting for such a dense cake. Stick with it.......

drop a brandy anyway wouldn't hurt...?
