So what white wine are you having with your Christmas lunch?

Does Chardonnay go nicely with turkey? I adore good Chardonnay but not sure what my guests will think. I think Sauvignon Blanc often gets suggested to pair with turkey? That would be much too dry for my mum! I want a really nice wine (though not too pricey) but mustn't be very dry. Thoughts?

I like Gewurztraminer with turkey (either French or Southern Hemisphere).

A Zinfandel blush is adorable with bird.

Bodenbabe · 11/11/2009 15:39

Hully, Zinfandel blush is too sweet for me (but my mum would probably adore it!) Lily, I'v never had Gewurzthingy but will audition some.

People always say white Burgundies go well - any good examples of those?

I like a nice Prosecco !

Hullygully · 11/11/2009 15:43

I love Prosecco, but I find I get terrible eructations if I combine it with bird.

! I'd start with prosecco and then probably have something solid and red as I much prefer red wine...

When the Zinfandel runs dry, we always have a lovely homemade Elderberry that Grandpa brings, it's really good with chops! (We have to have those as well as bird for the aunts).
