I am planning making my own Christmas pudding this year

When do I have to make it? IE how much in advance of the big day?

Well, we just made ours this week - but partly cos I'm not at work as its half term I would try to make it at least a month before Christmas ideally. My recipe (from my Nan) makes several puddings, and I've happily kept them from one year to the next before.

My X Mas Pudding:

Raisins 20oz 565g
Sultanas 12oz 350g
Currents 12oz 350g
Peel 6oz 170g
Whole Almonds 2oz 55g
Suet 8oz 225g
Breadcrumbs 4oz 110g
Flour 8oz 225g
Nutmeg 1/4tsp
Cinnamon 1/2tsp
Salt 1tsp
Brown Sugar 8oz 225g
Eggs 3
Milk 1/2 pt
Brandy

Mix together well. Steam for couple of hours, make 4.
