Damson gin

plantwoman · 21/10/2009 10:06

I wanted to steer away from the whole jam / chutney thing as a bit of a faff, but that delia recipe does sound good....

what are they like with loads of sugar?

Crumble?

NorbertDentressangle · 21/10/2009 10:09

Its very simple. DP makes it some years.

Gin + damsons + sugar. Leave for ages, shaking bottle occasionally. Drink.

(just ggogle for quantities

NorbertDentressangle · 21/10/2009 10:10

PS -despite my bad typing I'm NOT on the damson gin at the moment

plantwoman · 21/10/2009 10:14

cargirl - i usually go for the crumble option but these are really small and taking the stones out would be well....lets just say I have better things to do!

we made damson wine 2 years ago and it is WONDERFUL! but you d need all the wine making stuff to make it in.....

Gracie123 · 21/10/2009 13:22

GIN! This is definately the best option

StirlingNeedsAHoliday · 21/10/2009 15:07

Could use vodka too - I have made some damson vodka and sloe gin this year.

This site is really useful!

Put them in the freezer and worry about them again in a couple of years when you find them at the bottom...
