ive ofered to make my grandparents a meal - help plz

i havent seen my grandparents for a long time but we are close and speak on the phone alot - im going to visit this week and i wanted to take a meal with me for them (they didnt want a cake) which would of been easier for me to do .
just need some one pot meal ideas please

Sausage caserole sounds fab, and it is very easy to make. Just choose a selection of veg, cut up, dump in caserole pot with sausages (sut up or whole) and lots of onions and potatoes, add stock or tinned tomatoes and seasoning and cook for a few hours.

mmmmm Irish Stew, I love Irish stew.

The last sausage casserole I made was:

1 packet sausages
2 onions, sliced in semi circles
4 cloves garlic
two carrots, chopped chunky
two potatoes, chopped chunky
1 cup soy beans, cooked
rosemary
1 class red wine
loads of water and two stock cubes
a good big squirt of tomato puree
finely chopped red chilli

I cooked it for ages and ages and it was absolutely divine.

if i use a packet mix what veg will i need ?
and do i brown the sausages before i put them in
