I am going to strip my tomato plants tomorrow and will have loads of small green tomatos.
Apart from chutney(which I love) any other ideas?

Can't remember the recipe (not v helpful, I know) but there is one in Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe which I've always wanted to try out!

I'll see if I can find my copy...

I found quite a few recipes for green tomato jam, most with added ginger, but our toms are still ripening and I am holding out as long as possible before stripping them so havent; tried any yet

aha this is the best-looking one

this one uses apples too

Which chutney recipe do you use, zanz1bar? We are abou to be in a similar position!

I have used saint Delia but with a hefty dose of chilli added.

Would love to try 'Fried green tomatos' but I have small cherry sized fruits.
Best line in the film 'I am older and have more insurance' as she crashes her car into young bimbo's ve-hic-le.

fried green tomatoes are dipped in egg & bread crumbs and then fried in butter, as far as I recall...

or you can put them on the windowsill and give them a chance to colour up

Mmmm fried green tomatoes. Slice then really thinly, dredge in cornmeal and fry until golden in oil. That's how we do it in Texas. Same with okra, as well. You cam certainly do it with cherry toms.

I use Val's recipe for green tomato jam (or very similar one) every year and it is really nice. The jam tastes almost exzctly like strawberry and is bright red because of the apples.
Also make a green tomato and cucumber relish which is really good if you have more cucumbers than you can use up.

Green tomato and apple pie filling is nice, as well, and you can put it into warm, sterile jars while hot and keep it for using during the winter. green tomato soup is nice as well, as is green tomato ketchup.

I'm struggling to find my recipes at the moment, but you can google all of them. Can you tell it's hard to get your tomatoes to ripen, here!
