Can I use these instead? In what proportions and will it work? It is for DS's 1st b'day cake so reasonably important but I am not feeling too great and don't want to go to the shops if I don't have too. Any help much apppreciated!

No!

Yes!

1/4tsp bicarb +1/2tsp cream of tartar = 1tsp baking powder.

1part bicarb to 2parts cream of tartar I think isn't it?

or could be other way round...

google it!

I do this all the time, def works! 2 parts cream of tartar to 1 part bicarb, the instructions are on the pots.

Thanks so much! I did google it but I wanted reassurance that it would work before I wasted all my energy and all my bananas etc! I am sure it should stay on the pots but it is on the plastic covering that I tore off opening them
