Loads of onions
Masala sauce (from a recipe an indian friend gave me)

Cook for about 4-6 hours.

Makes the flavours amazing.

You could probably do it with a ready made sauce eg tub or jar.

add loads of tommy k
2tsp mustard
4tbsp tomato puree
1tbsp vinegar
1 dessert spoon of brown sugar

put all together in slow cook and leave to cook.
Add some chilli sauce if you want it spicey

Gateau · 28/09/2009 14:28

Are you supposed to fry everything first, before putting it all into the slow cooker? Someone on another thread said she doesn't brown anything first (except mince) but all the recipes I have read said you do need to.

MyNameisJane · 29/09/2009 18:41

I think you need to soften the onions first - otherwise the dish tastes bitter and you have hard bits of onion.

TheArmadillo · 29/09/2009 18:48

ratatouille (sp?) with a pot roast joint of beef on top

ham

did a lovely sausage and bean casserole this week

mostly either do

meat with red wine/root veg (precooked a bit), onions, garlic, rosemary

or
meat with peppers/onions/garlic/tinned tomatoes/spices

I did stuffed chicken breasts in there that were lovely.

i read somewhere (cant remember tho duh) about cooking it but i cant get my head around it,surely it would be too mushy?

The Sunday roast
Any type of soup
Curries etc

queenofdenial2009 · 30/09/2009 12:37

weegiemum, please tell! How do you make risotto in a slow cooker and does it taste the same as stirring it (I don't think oven baked risotto is anything like real risotto).

That chorizo and pork belly recipe looks amazing.

MyNameisJane · 30/09/2009 20:11

Have you seen the tip of the day?

bacon · 30/09/2009 21:04

I would brown all meat first as its stays pink and doesnt look appealing especially sausages and pork.

I generally use the electric oven now as it has a timer. I liked the slow cooker but found it could be quite watery.
