having a dinner party next week and want to do fillet steak, not sure what to serve as:

an accompanying sauce (not peppercorn)
and what vegetables etc...

Do you have any suggestions please?

Also what dessert would go with such a rich main course do you think?

lemon and orange surprise pudding - a light and saucey little number from delhia. or fresh fruit salad and cream

Steak diana has always been a good one for me with a simple selection of vegtables broc baby corn mange tout and new potato

Potato dauphinoise

steamed veg selection - eg. green beans, sugar snaps, baby carrots, baby corn, garnished with slivered almonds.

Because the potatoes are moist and creamy, I wouldn't have an additional sauce for the steak and just keep it simple. Maybe have some mustard or horseradish on the table.

Dessert - something with seasonal fruit like apple tarte tatin, poached peaches or pears, plum clafouti.

Gratin dauphinois is a good idea
Green beans
Mushrooms
Green salad on the side

Traditional sauces for steak - not peppercorn you say - you could go for bearnaise? But not with a gratin.
