Please recommend a sauce recipe to use with Readymade Beef MEATBALLS

I went to Sainsburys for a treat (usually Aldi & Asda) and bought stuff without really thinking / no list! They did have some lovely BBQ things half price.

Anyway, I have some Taste the Difference beef meatballs, and was thinking along the lines of meatballs & spaghetti etc.

Can anyone recommend a tasty tomato sauce recipe?Or any other good way to cook these?

Thanks

I would do something much nicer tasting (and agree, passata is a little one dimensional) when time allows. I think we largely agree

Passata - quick family meal when time is short

From scratch more flavoursome sauce, when feeling particularly motivated

If DD would eat passata on its own and I liked it on its own I expect I would give it to her! As it is, we mainly eat together and I want onions and garlic and veg in my sauce so that's not what I do. But I have only one small child and plenty of time.

I am a great fan of passata, btw. I think it makes a much nicer sauce than tinned toms.

We sometimes have ours with mash, veg and gravy instead of a tomato based sauce and pasta.
also if I can be bothered I cut them in two and re roll them into smaller meatballs, they cook quicker and are less likely to be burnt on the outside.

OK, My sauce is now bubbling.

I have taken all your hints on board.

Woodenchair - I have halved them all - good tip!

I have browned a large onion with 2 very fat cloves of garlic (chopped) & some dried chilli flakes.

Then added the halved balls to brown.

Then added a tin of decent tomatoes with herbs, + a load of extra oregano & pepper.

Then I have just added half a teaspoon of cocoa powder. It tastes lovely

Just waiting for spaghetti to cook now & we can enjoy (although DD has just informed me she is off out & will not be enjoying it with us!).

Thanks everyone.

(Was amused to see the arguments raging on though.)

Oh good!

veyr good idea to halve them,
when they sell them in packs of 12 it isnt enoguh for a family of 5, so i don't buy them.

i actually dont make them but i bet they're easy to make
