HELP! Just added a huge slug of soya sauce to my bolognaise by mistake!

Meant to add Worcestshire (sp?) sauce but grabbed wrong bottle. Only notice when I saw DH look at me funny. Then i added the worcestershire sauce and now it is really salty. Any ideas?

(DH laughing that I headed in to study and said "bet you are going to as Mumsnet!)

stick a bit of tomato ketchup in to make it sweeter?

Raw potato - chop into big chunks, add to sauce and stir round for a while. Fish out and throw away before they go soft and mush into your sauce. They soak up the salt.

I just remember the raw potato trick and have done that - DH looked most bemused.

Will try that and see how it tastes.

If that doesn;t work will try the ketchup option.

If that doesn't work will order a curry!

red wine vinager and sugar mixed together (slightly less sugar to vinegar ratio)

Buda · 06/08/2009 17:17

have added some red wine. But not red wine vinegar. Will add some sugar in a mo.

ahhh that'll do. Just drink more wine if not

Buda · 06/08/2009 17:19

Not sure that will work with DS! But I certainly will.

Well it didn't turn out too badly in the end.

I added:

a potato (which I fished out later)
red wine
sugar
balsamic vinegar
milk

It was a bit liquidy so I spooned out some of the extra liquid. Cue DH sarcastically trying to explain that I couldn't spoon out the soya sauce as it would have mixed in.

DS ate it all without cajoling so that was good. DH had seconds.
